6 years agoThe Detroit Tigers placed shortstop Jordy Mercer on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a right quadriceps strain that he suffered in Saturday's game. Mercer hit two doubles on Saturday to raise his season average to just .233 in 47 plate appearances. The 32-year-old doesn't help fantasy owners much with the bat and should only be owned as depth in AL-only leagues. Gordon Beckham figures to see more playing time at shortstop with Mercer sidelined, but he, too, shouldn't excite many for fantasy purposes.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
