Three-Way Competition At Running Back For Redskins
6 years agoWashington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said rookie running back Derrius Guice and Samaje Perine and Rob Kelley will battle it out for lead-back duties in training camp. Running back Chris Thompson is locked into a third-down rule. Guice has the most upside and is the favorite to win the gig, but he also has character concerns that led to him falling into the second round of the draft. Kelley's production slipped last year and he missed most of the second half of the year with injuries. Perine, a second-year back, didn't live up to his rookie hype with 3.4 yards per carry. It's a situation to watch. Guice will be the most popular fantasy pick, but this backfield could be tough to navigate for fantasy owners. Thompson is an RB3/flex type in PPR formats.
