Texans Not Hopeful On Keke Coutee's Week 1 Status
5 years agoHouston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said he's "not hopeful" that wide receiver Keke Coutee (ankle) will play in the regular season opener in two weeks. Coutee returned to practice on Monday, but obviously he's not as close to returning as we expected. The second-year wideout was injured almost his entire rookie season and has developed a reputation as a very slow healer. There's plenty of upside if he stays healthy, but right now the risk is outweighing the potential reward. Houston could be forced to throw more this year with Lamar Miller (knee) out for the year, too, but Coutee should be dropped down to WR4/5 status with upside. Deandre Carter would benefit in the slot if Coutee can't suit up in Week 1.
