Teddy Bridgewater Says He's Fully Healthy
6 years agoNew York Jets quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (knee) says he's fully healthy two years removed from a gruesome knee injury. "Right now, I'm doing everything I dreamed of doing -- and that's waking up and continuing to play football," Bridgewater said. "It's a wonderful feeling. It gives me chills right now to think about it, knowing how the previous two years were." Currently second on the depth chart behind Josh McCown, Bridgewater is expected to see a lot of action in the preseason opener Friday against the Falcons. Head coach Todd Bowles won't commit to playing McCown in the game. The 39-year-old QB played in just two series in the preseason last year and was still the starter for Week 1. While Bridgewater is still technically competing for a starting gig, he's unlikely to earn it with McCown around and rookie Sam Darnold seriously pushing for the job as well. The most likely scenario is that Bridgewater is auditioning for a trade this preseason by proving that he's fully healthy when it comes to contact in game situations. Unless Bridgewater surprises and actually wins the job outright, he can be ignored in fantasy for now.
