Steven Matz Gets Good News
6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz (forearm) is not dealing with any structural damage in his left forearm after being examined by Dr. David Altchek on Monday morning in New York. Matz could only wind up missing just one start. The Mets will still need to decide if they will place Matz on the injured list. The left-hander had been dealing with the nerve issue for around two weeks, according to manager Mickey Callaway, but was unable to throw his side session on Sunday. Callaway doesn't think this issue is related to the surgery Matz had in 2017 to reposition the ulnar nerve in his left elbow. Matz is sporting a 3.86 ERA across 35 innings (seven starts) so far this year and should remain stashed everywhere.
