Steven Matz Activated From DL, Starting Game 2
6 years agoThe New York Mets activated starting pitcher Steven Matz (arm) from the disabled list on Thursday, and he will start Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Phillies. Reliever Tim Peterson was optioned to the minors in a corresponding move. The left-handed Matz gave up seven runs and didn't make it out of the first inning in his last start against the Nats on July 31. He hasn't missed much time, but throwing him right back into the fire against a team battling for the division isn't the smartest move. Matz is 5-9 on the year with a 4.35 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 8.3 K/9 across 21 starts.
