Steelers Exercise T.J. Watt's Option
5 years agoIn an expected move, the Pittsburgh Steelers exercised the fifth-year option on outside linebacker T.J. Watt on Tuesday. Watt has become a star in the league after being selected in the first round in 2017. He finished third in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2019 and was voted the team MVP by his teammates. Watt posted a career-high 14.5 sacks in 2019 and also added two interceptions, eight passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He was the first player since 2008 to have at least 14.5 sacks, 36 QB hits, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in a season. The star pass-rusher has 34.5 sacks in 63 NFL games and will be highly coveted in IDP leagues in 2020.
