Spencer Steer: Is A Return To A 20/20 Season Likely?
4 mins agoCincinnati Reds veteran Spencer Steer posted a fine season in 2024, hitting .225 with 20 home runs, 92 RBI, 74 runs scored, and 25 stolen bases in 158 games. The batting average took a downturn from 2023 when he hit .271; his underlying stats were largely the same, but a low .260 BABIP might have been the culprit. Steer plays all over the field and gives a team that valuable Swiss Army knife in fantasy baseball. With first base and outfield eligibility in NFBC drafts, he's going around pick 110, which is a fair price for a player who can return 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases at those positions. Steer should see a minor uptick in batting average for 2025; look for an average closer to .250 with good counting stats. The Reds do have many mouths to feed for playing time, but look for Steer to continue playing in an everyday role this season, whether in the outfield or first base.
