Sixto Sanchez Won't Play In AFL
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Sixto Sanchez (elbow) will not play in the Arizona Fall League after suffering a setback in his recovery from an elbow injury that first sidelined him in June, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Sanchez was in the Florida instructional league when he came down with soreness in his right collarbone. The good news is that team doctors aren't very concerned and expect Sanchez to be fully healthy for spring training. The 20-year-old is the team's top prospect and went 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings over eight starts for High-A Clearwater in 2018. He might have another year or two before he's contributing in the big leagues, but he should already be on the radar of those in dynasty/keeper leagues.
