Shohei Ohtani Tweaks Ankle Sunday
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (ankle) tweaked his left ankle sliding into second base on Sunday. Manager Mike Scioscia downplayed the injury, but Ohtani's ankle was heavily wrapped in the clubhouse after the game. The Angels have an off day on Monday, but the Angels could surely play it cautious and hold him out on Tuesday. The Japanese two-way star had a run scored, a walk, two strikeouts and was caught stealing in four plate appearances. While he's more attractive as a pitcher -- something he's unlikely to do again until 2020 -- he's also very attractive as a hitter, batting .290/.370/.587 with 20 home runs, 52 runs scored, 55 RBI and nine steals on the season.
