6 years agoLos Angeles Angels general manager Billy Eppler said designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) will have his next follow-up appointment soon. Ohtani is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day, but they are unsure beyond that on his timetable for hitting. Ohtani, the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year, won't pitch at all in 2019, but he's expected to be allowed to hit and serve as the team's primary DH, at least against right-handed pitchers. The 24-year-old hit .285/.361/.564 with 22 home runs, 61 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 326 at-bats last year and will be in play in all mixed leagues for his bat only in 2019.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
