Shohei Ohtani To Be Activated Before Team's Next Homestand
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels are expected to activate designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) before the team returns home for their next homestand, which begins May 17, according to manager Brad Ausmus. Ohtani had Tommy John surgery last October and hasn't made his season debut. He won't pitch at all this year but needs to be stashed in all leagues for his power/speed combination. The Japanese star hit .285/.361/.564 with 22 home runs, 61 RBI and 10 steals in 367 plate appearances to win American League Rookie of the Year honors. His return will put Justin Bour and Albert Pujols in a platoon at first base.
