5 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter/starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani (elbow) will throw off the mound on Wednesday for the first time since having Tommy John surgery last October. The Japanese two-way start won't pitch at all in 2019 but is serving as the team's regular designated hitter. The 2018 American League Rookie of the Year has nine homers, 30 RBI and an .834 OPS since returning on May 7. He went 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 10 starts in the mound last season. Ohtani remains very valuable in all fantasy leagues with his bat because of his power/speed combination.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
