Shohei Ohtani Feels Great
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow) has now taken 31 at-bats in simulated games and said his body "feels great" as he nears a return following Tommy John surgery last October. The Angels are being cautious with the Japanese star and are unlikely to let him make his season debut until sometime next week at the earliest. "Personally," Ohtani said, "I feel like I'm ready to go as of right now." The 2018 American League Rookie of the Year had a .925 OPS and a 3.31 ERA in his rookie season, but he won't pitch at all in 2019. Manager Brad Ausmus said Ohtani "is going to face left-handed pitchers," meaning he'll have an everyday role in the lineup. He needs to be owned in all leagues for his power/speed combination. Ausmus estimated that Ohtani needs around 40 simulated at-bats before he's activated.
