Shohei Ohtani Almost Ready To Face Hitters
5 years agoLos Angeles Angels general manager Billy Eppler said that starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is almost ready to face live hitters in his rehab from Tommy John surgery, but that might be difficult to do given the restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. "We're going to have to get creative somewhere down the line here if we're still sheltering at home," Eppler said. The Japanese right-hander has been throwing bullpen sessions in the meantime. Whenever the 2020 season does start, Ohtani will have a pretty good chance of being ready as both a starting pitcher and hitter, which is great news for fantasy owners. He provides more upside as a hurler, but his power/speed combination as a designated hitter is also plenty useful in all leagues.
