Shelby Miller To Be Skipped, Drew Smyly Pushed Back
6 years agoTexas Rangers manager Chris Woodward confirmed that starting pitcher Shelby Miller will not make his next scheduled start on Sunday against the Cardinals and will work from the bullpen temporarily. Drew Smyly (ankle) will be pushed back to Sunday while he recovers from a slight left ankle sprain. Adrian Sampson will go on Friday and Ariel Jurado will pitch on Saturday, with Jose Leclerc expected to work as an opener on Friday. Jesse Chavez will likely be the opener ahead of Jurado. Miller allowed seven hits and eight runs in 1 2/3 innings against the Royals on Tuesday to spike his ERA to 9.51 on the season. Miller should obviously be dropped in all leagues, while Smyly should be avoided at all costs this Sunday against St. Louis.
