Shane Greene A Lock To Be Traded Wednesday?
5 years agoOne of the surest bets to be traded at the deadline on Wednesday is Detroit Tigers closer Shane Greene. “They are trading him,” one rival executive said. Well then. It does make plenty of sense given that the Tigers are well out of contention. Greene, 30, has been excellent on a bad team in 2019 with a 1.18 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 22 saves and 43 strikeouts in 38 innings. He'd almost assuredly be used in a setup role on a contending team, so his fantasy value could be about to take a huge hit. If he's traded, some combination of Joe Jimenez, Buck Farmer and Victor Alcantara could handle the closing duties the rest of the way. Jimenez is the best fantasy bet of the group. The Braves talks about Greene have intensified on Wednesday. It'd probably be the best landing spot for Greene, as he'd have a good shot to stick in the closer role in Atlanta.
