Seahawks Sign Carlos Hyde
5 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks are signing running back Carlos Hyde to a one-year deal worth up to $4 million on Friday, according to sources. Seattle reportedly offered Devonta Freeman a very similar deal in recent days, but he turned it down. With Rashaad Penny (knee) a question mark for the start of the 2020 regular season, the Seahawks wanted some veteran depth behind Chris Carson, who is coming off a serious hip injury of his own. Hyde, who will be 30 this September, ran for a career-high 1,070 yards and six touchdowns on 245 carries in his lone season with Houston last year. He could slot in as the direct backup to Carson ahead of Travis Homer and rookie DeeJay Dallas if Penny starts the year on the PUP list. With a Seattle team that loves to run the football, Hyde could have sneaky appeal as a Carson handcuff in deeper leagues.
