Seahawks Expect Rashaad Penny To Be Ready For Week 1
6 years agoSeattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll expects rookie running back Rashaad Penny (finger) to be ready for Week 1. Penny had surgery to fix a broken finger on Wednesday and is expected to be out three to four weeks, which would put him right on the cusp of the regular season opener against Denver. Penny was drafted in the first round with the expectation that he'd be the lead back, but Chris Carson had other ideas and has seized the role in training camp. Carson's hold on the main rushing role will only tighten with Penny sidelined, and the rookie is losing valuable repetitions with the offense. He should still be the main backup early in the year, but Penny could struggle to produce given his long layoff. His fantasy stock in redraft leagues takes a big hit with this injury.
