Seahawks Could Give Earl Thomas Significant Fine
6 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks could give safety Earl Thomas a significant fine for conduct detrimental to the team after he missed practice twice last week, according to organizational sources. Thomas took part in practice on Saturday and plans to play on Sunday against the Cowboys, and head coach Pete Carroll said he plans to start Thomas. Seattle has once again engaged teams in trade talks for Thomas, including the Cowboys, but the Chiefs have emerged as a candidate if a deal is made before the Oct. 30 deadline. One source said that a trade sending Thomas to Dallas is "a super long shot." The Seahawks are prioritizing signing defensive end Frank Clark and wide receiver Tyler Lockett before they would take a Thomas extension into consideration. Thomas remains productive despite all the unhappiness and trade talk, but he'd likely be better off with another team at this point. The Chiefs could use Thomas more than the Cowboys, especially with veteran safety Eric Berry (heel) nowhere close to a return at this point.
