Sandy Alcantara To Start Sunday Against Pittsburgh
2 years agoMiami Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara will make his first start of the second half of the season on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pablo Lopez is starting on Thursday against the Texas Rangers, followed by Braxton Garrett on Friday in the series opener against Pittsburgh and rookie Max Meyer on Saturday. Lefty Trevor Rogers will get the ball in the series opener on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. Alcantara, who pitched in his second All-Star game on Tuesday, leads the league in ERA (1.76), games started (19), complete games (two), innings pitched (138 1/3) and ERA+ (233). In his final outing before the All-Star break, he struck out 12 in a tough-luck loss. The 26-year-old will be an absolute must-start against the Bucs on Sunday.
