Sandy Alcantara Looking To Shake Off July Struggles
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara had his worst month of the year so far in July. Over four starts, he posted a 4.26 ERA with a 1.89 K/BB ratio. However, he was dominant in his first start of August. Facing the New York Yankees this past Sunday, Alcantara pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while matching a season-high with 10 strikeouts. Alcantara is 6-9 on the year with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. He has allowed a barrel rate of just 4.5%, which ranks in the 89th percentile. Look for him to build off his strong start against the Yankees and return to his early season form. His next start will be on Friday against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
