Sam Darnold To Start In Week 1
6 years agoWith the New York Jets trading quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the Saints on Wednesday, it has become obvious that rookie QB Sam Darnold will start in Week 1 against the Lions on Monday Night Football. The No. 3 overall pick started the last two preseason games and has looked the part by completing 64.4 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and an interception for an 83.9 QB rating. He'll be the youngest quarterback to start a season opener since the 1970 merger. Veteran Josh McCown will serve as the backup and as a mentor. Darnold and his incredibly high ceiling will be thrown into the fire immediately. He'll surely have his ups and downs and isn't an attractive QB2 in redraft leagues. However, he should be the top QB off the board in dynasty/keeper drafts.
