Sam Darnold Has A Shot To Start In Week 1
6 years agoNew York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold has a realistic shot to win the starting job heading into Week 1 over veteran Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater. It's pretty much his job to win. Of the last 10 quarterbacks drafted in the top 10 dating back to 2012, six have started on opening day. He has work to do in training camp and the preseason to prove to the coaching staff that he deserves the job, and he must cut down on the turnovers that he displayed in college. Other than maybe Josh Allen in Buffalo, Darnold has the clearest path to a starting job right off the bat of any of the rookie quarterbacks in 2018. That makes him the most intriguing redraft pick as a QB2 and potentially even the most intriguing in long-term keeper leagues.
