Sam Darnold Could Be Out 3-7 Weeks
5 years agoNew York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold (illness) is out for Monday night against the Browns with mononucleosis and could miss anywhere from three to seven weeks, according to sources. The illness affected Darnold in the season-opening loss to the Bills, and he's being quarantined from the rest of the team. At the very least, you shouldn't expect to have Darnold back until after the team's Week 4 bye at this point. He's a QB2 in season-long leagues, but this news obviously hurts his stock as a fantasy backup. Trevor Siemian will take over for as long as Darnold is out, but he's a low-end QB2 play. Downgrade all Jets receivers with Darnold missing time.
