Saints Expect A More Balanced Running Attack
6 years agoNew Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton expects the team's rushing attack to be more balanced moving forward now that running back Mark Ingram is back in the picture. Ingram returned to the field last Monday night against the Redskins after a four-game suspension and logged 18 offensive touches, while Alvin Kamara had just nine. “It just changes how the game unfolds. Alvin’s nine touches, I think is a little bit of byproduct of a 60-yard scoring strike, another 40,” Payton said. “Those change kind of the pitch count, if you will.” While Kamara is still an RB1, the mere presence of Ingram in this backfield with him will inevitably lower his ceiling somewhat moving forward. But for those Kamara owners that are panicking, Week 5's touch distribution should be more favorable for Kamara coming off the bye.
