Ryan Zimmerman Beginning Rehab Assignment
5 years agoWashington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman (foot) is starting his rehab assignment with Double-A Harrisburg on Friday. The plan is for him to play five or six innings at first base before working his way to an increased workload. The veteran has been out since July 21 after aggravating the plantar fasciitis in his right foot. The 34-year-old has played in only 33 games this year and is hitting .246/.311/.390 with three home runs and 15 RBI. Even when healthy, he's a platoon option, at best, for the Nats, limiting him to an NL-only role in fantasy leagues.
