Ryan Pressly Reaches Two-Year Extension With Astros
3 years agoThe Houston Astros and closer Ryan Pressly agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract extension on Tuesday, according to sources familiar with the situation. The deal includes a 2025 vesting option that can make the deal worth up to $42 million. MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports Pressly will make $14 million in 2023 and 2024 and has a $2 million buyout on a $14 million option for 2025. A full no-trade clause will kick in in 2023. The 33-year-old right-hander has been lights-out for the Astros and has made the All-Star team twice in his three seasons with them. He had a career-high 26 saves, a 2.25 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 64 relief innings last year, and Pressly should be considered a top-five fantasy closer.
