Ryan Helsley Loses Arbitration Case Against Cardinals
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley lost his salary arbitration case on Thursday, according to a source. He will make $2.15 million in 2023 instead of the $3 million that he filed for. Helsley will still be St. Louis' primary closer in 2023 after the All-Star had a career-best 1.25 ERA (2.34 FIP), 0.74 WHIP, career-high 19 saves and 94 strikeouts in 64 2/3 innings over 54 appearances out of the bullpen. The 28-year-old right-hander ended the season on a sour note in the playoffs against the Philadelphia Phillies in the wild-card round, but that shouldn't persuade fantasy managers to avoid him this season. Helsey enters the 2023 campaign as RotoBaller's No. 10 fantasy closer.
