Ryan Blaney Begins 38th For Sunday's Race At COTA
2 years agoRyan Blaney appeared quick at practice on Saturday. Then, it came to qualifying. That was when the Team Penske driver had issues. He immediately flat spotted his tires going into turn 1 on his qualifying lap. As a result, Blaney ended up almost 11 seconds off the pole position time of William Byron. The No. 12 Ford begins 38th and becomes a prop or DFS play on Sunday and almost little else. After finishing sixth last year (qualified on the pole), Blaney again expects to be a place differential asset on Sunday afternoon.
