Rockies To Consider Ryan Rolison For Bullpen Role
3 years agoThe Colorado Rockies will consider using left-hander Ryan Rolison, their top pitching prospect, as a long-relief option in their bullpen to start the 2022 season. Rolison would be making his major league debut. Chad Kuhl, who the Rockies signed on Monday, is in line for the fifth spot in the starting rotation. Rolison was the team's first-round pick back in 2018, and he struggled with a 5.27 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 16 starts (71 2/3 frames) for the Rookie League Rockies, High-A Spokane, Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque in 2021. The 24-year-old has a nice four-pitch mix and has the ability to fill up the strike zone with regularity. Rolison won't be a fantasy commodity in the bullpen, but he'll be worth a look later on if he eventually wins a rotation job in Colorado.
