Robby Anderson Has A Deal With The Panthers
5 years agoThe Carolina Panthers agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with former New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson on Tuesday. Anderson will receive $12 million in the first year of the deal and will be a free agent again at 29 years old. He'll be reuniting with his old college coach Matt Rhule, who is the Panthers head coach. The Jets were interested in bringing Anderson back as their No. 1 wideout, but he'll head to Carolina instead, where he'll join D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel in three-wide sets. It's another receiving weapon for new quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who is taking over for Cam Newton. Anderson's arrival is bad news for both Moore and Samuel, and Anderson may still struggle to post his first 1,000-yard of his career. The 26-year-old had 52 catches for 779 yards (15.0 yards per catch) and five touchdowns in 2019. He'll be a WR4/5 target with upside for more if he becomes a focal point in Carolina's offense.
