1 year agoMajor League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred received a third term as the league's commissioner on Wednesday when his contract was extended by four years until Jan. 25 of 2009. Manfred will now be around to guide the MLB owners through another round of collective bargaining with the players, which will be his third as a commissioner of the sport. The current CBA is set to expire after the 2026 season. It's notable that this extension for Manfred is for one fewer year than his two previous contracts. He turns 65 years old this September, so he will be 70 years old when his new deal expires. Manfred's rule chances this year, including major on-field overhauls, have mostly worked as intended to speed up the game.
