Reynaldo Lopez 2025 Outlook: Successful Conversion to SP Should Continue This Year
5 mins agoReynaldo Lopez's transition to the rotation couldn't have gone better in 2024, as he posted an 8-5 record with a 1.99 ERA across 135 ⅔ IP. His 3.44 xFIP and 3.88 xERA weren't quite as strong but still represent solid ratios for fantasy purposes. That's good, because Lopez was fortunate in 2024 based on his .287 BABIP, 87% strand rate, and 7.5% HR/FB. Lopez racked up strikeouts with a deadly slider (20.8% SwStr%, 38.1% chase rate), changeup (18.5% SwStr%, 38.9% chase), and reintroduced curve (15.6% SwStr%, 42.6% Zone%, 32.9% chase rate), producing a 27.3 K% despite a mediocre fastball (6.5% SwStr%, 65.2 Zone%). The biggest knock on Lopez was his durability, as he averaged just over five innings per start while missing time in August with right forearm inflammation and in September with right shoulder inflammation. Still, Lopez is a starter on a contending club with strikeout stuff. The 31-year-old should be more than worth his ADP of 150.44.
