Reyes Moronta Picks Up Save In Game 2
2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Reyes Moronta picked up his first save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Tuesday. Moronta threw a scoreless and hitless inning while walking none and striking out one in the outing. The 29-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment by the Dodgers a month ago, but he landed with Arizona and got his first save of the year against his former team. The D-backs are currently using a closer committee with Ian Kennedy, Joe Mantiply and Mark Melancon, but Moronta could be added to that mix over the final weeks of the 2022 season. He's pitched well in 9 2/3 innings for the Snakes, allowing only three earned runs on six hits while walking three and striking out eight.
