Redskins Acquire Kyle Allen
5 years agoThe Washington Redskins acquired quarterback Kyle Allen from the Carolina Panthers on Monday in exchange for a fifth-round pick, according to a source. Allen became expendable when the team signed XFL quarterback P.J. Walker on Monday. With Dwayne Haskins expected to be the team's starter under center entering the 2020 season, Allen will enter as the backup with Alex Smith's (leg) NFL future still up in the air. Allen went 5-7 as the fill-in starter for Cam Newton last year in Carolina and completed 62 percent of his passes for 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 12 games started. The 24-year-old looked overmatched towards the end of the season and won't have any fantasy appeal in redraft leagues as long as he's a backup in D.C.
