Reds Prioritizing Addition At Shortstop
4 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds are prioritizing the addition of one starting shortstop and are pursuing multiple options to address their need, according to sources. Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor and Rockies shortstop Trevor Story are potential trade options, while Marcus Semien, Andrelton Simmons and Didi Gregorius are free-agent options. Freddy Galvis, who is also a free agent, was the team's shortstop in 2020, hitting .220 with a .712 OPS and seven home runs in 47 games. Any of the aforementioned names would be big upgrades over Galvis, with either Lindor or Story being a major acquisition for Cincinnati that would require several big-name prospects.
