Reds Hope To Have Joey Votto Back By Friday
6 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds are hoping to have first baseman Joey Votto (knee) back on Friday when they start a series against the Diamondbacks. Votto sat out Tuesday and Wednesday with a right knee contusion after being hit by a pitch on Saturday. "He felt somewhat, a little better yesterday," manager Jim Riggleman said. "Today with an off-day tomorrow, I'm thinking [will help]. He likes to play. He's not happy about having to take any days off. I'm sure he's going to be pushing it to be in there Friday." Votto did exercise drills with strength and conditioning director Sean Marohn before the game Wednesday. The last time he missed back-to-back games was on June 21-22 of 2016. Get ready to return Votto to your lineups this weekend. He's hitting a healthy .289/.426/.427 with nine home runs and 53 RBI and leads the National League in on-base percentage.
