Rays Will Play Matchups In Ninth Inning
6 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays will head into the 2019 regular season without naming a closer and will instead play the matchups in the ninth inning. Sergio Romo, who led the team with 25 saves last year, is gone, so relievers Jose Alvarado and Chaz Roe are expected to see most of the opportunities to close games. Ryne Stanek and Diego Castillo are other possible options. Alvarado, a left-hander, should be your first choice in deeper fantasy leagues as a low-end stopper. He had a sharp 2.39 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 11.3 K/9 and eight saves in 70 appearances last season.
