Rays Place Yandy Diaz On Restricted List
4 months agoThe Tampa Bay Rays placed first baseman Yandy Diaz on the restricted list on Saturday and recalled infielder Curtis Mead from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Diaz wasn't in the lineup on Friday for the start of the second half of the season in the Bronx against the division-rival New York Yankees due to a personal matter and will now miss a little bit more time. It remains to be seen how much additional time the 32-year-old will miss, but fantasy managers will want to check back regularly for more updates. While he's out, expect Isaac Paredes to play first base for the Rays. Amed Rosario is starting at third and batting leadoff for Tampa on Sunday against Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes. Diaz hasn't been quite as good as he was in 2023, but he's been useful in most fantasy leagues with a .273/.329/.396 slash line with eight homers and 46 RBI in 94 games played.
