Ravens Looking To Get Hayden Hurst More Involved
6 years agoBaltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said the team needs to get rookie tight end Hayden Hurst more involved in the offense. "It’s important to get Hayden involved going forward," coach John Harbaugh said. "He’s a first-round pick, talented guy. He’s practicing really well. He’s a rookie –- that’s the other side of it -- and he missed a significant portion. We just have to keep bringing him along. I expect him to play well. He’s very determined. It’s important for us to have him rolling in our offense." Hurst so far has been a non-factor in the three games he's played since returning from foot surgery, catching just one pass for seven yards in his first game. He has a chance to break out in Week 8 against the Panthers, who have allowed the sixth most passing yards to tight ends (79.6 per game). Hurst has had to shake off rust as well as adjusting to the speed of the game and understanding the play calls. Quarterback Joe Flacco has gone 24-for-42 for 334 yards with no touchdowns and one interception over the middle this year, which is another reason to get Hurst going. Hurst has the most upside of Baltimore's tight end group, but three other tight ends have caught passes this year, making it even more difficult for Hurst to stand out. The upside is there, but he's hard to rely on in redraft leagues.
