Rangers Agree With Shawn Kelley
6 years agoThe Texas Rangers agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal with free-agent relief pitcher Shawn Kelley on Monday, according to sources familiar with the deal. Including the buyout and the club option, the deal could be worth $2.75 million. Kelley will turn 35 in April and has injury concerns at his age, but he was solid with a 2.94 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 50 K's in 49 innings for the Nationals and A's last season. He was especially nasty in his 19 outings for Oakland in the second half. Kelley should be a veteran setup man for closer Jose Leclerc to open the season, which won't give him much fantasy appeal.
