Rams Don't Expect Aaron Donald To Report Anytime Soon
6 years agoLos Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald will not join the team by the NFL's deadline Tuesday for players to report to earn an accrued season for free agency, and head coach Sean McVay doesn't expect a resolution anytime soon. "I've had a little bit of dialogue with Aaron and we're hopeful that we'll get something done, but I don't think there's any realistic deal to Aug. 7 being a date that changes really anything, but you never know," McVay said. Donald is holding out for a contract extension, but the two sides aren't close at all. He's scheduled to make $6.9 million in the final year of his rookie deal but is believed to be seeking a deal that will pay him over $20 million per year, which would make him the highest paid defensive player in league history. Donald has 39 sacks in his four seasons and will still be an elite IDP selection despite his holdout.
