Rams Could Use More Two-Running Back Sets
6 years agoAfter drafting running back Darrell Henderson in the third round with the 70th overall pick, the Los Angeles Rams could use more two-running back sets to help protect Todd Gurley in 2019. General manager Les Snead has called Henderson the "change-of-pace" back that the team has been searching for. Gurley missed the final two games of the regular season in 2018 and was limited in the postseason. Henderson (5-foot-8, 208 pounds) is small with big-play ability. Head coach Sean McVay said Henderson could prompt him to break from his 11-personnel scheme of just one runner in the backfield. Gurley will remain the focal point of this offense, but his knee issues will likely cause the team to manage his workload, and that's where Malcolm Brown and Henderson come in.
