Rams Could Feature Tyler Higbee More
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams are looking to get their tight ends more involved in the offense in 2018, and tight end Tyler Higbee could benefit going into his third season. “Definitely we want to feature him more and get him a little more involved,” quarterback Jared Goff said after Monday’s practice at UC Irvine. “If we can get him the ball some more and get him some more touches, that will even open us up a little more. Then Gerald and Temarrick (Hemingway), same way.” Head coach Sean McVay has been known as a tight end guru, and tight ends accounted for 24.6 percent of the team's pass targets and 27.5 percent of its catches in 2015 and 2016 when he called plays for the Redskins. However, last year the Rams tight ends had 17.0 percent of team targets and 15.3 percent of their catches. Higbee has been a standout in training camp after catching 25 passes in 2017. He's on the rise, but he'll also be sharing time with Gerald Everett at the position, and the Rams are loaded with other offensive talent. Higbee is intriguing, but he's no more than a TE2.
