Quinn Priester Continues To Build Up His Arm
5 months agoPittsburgh Pirates right-hander Quinn Priester (lat) made his second minor-league rehab appearance with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday and went five innings, giving up an earned run on three hits (one homer) while walking none and striking out six. Now that rookie right-hander Jared Jones (lat) is on the 15-day injured list and is out through the All-Star break, Priester is a candidate to take his place in Pittsburgh's starting rotation before the All-Star break. The 23-year-old former 18th overall pick in 2019 struggled in his first taste of the big leagues last year, posting a 7.74 ERA and 1.70 WHIP with 36 K's and 27 walks in 10 outings (eight starts) over 50 innings. Priester has gone 0-5 so far in 2024 with a 4.83 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with a 20:10 K:BB in his six starts. There could be plenty more ups and downs for the young Priester once he returns to Pittsburgh's rotation.
