4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton said that the team will mix and match to fill the closer's role with Keone Kela (undisclosed) out to begin the 2020 season. Shelton doesn't anticipate using one guy to do the job, and it'll likely be matchup-based. It'll be a committee approach, but Kyle Crick is widely considered to be the best fantasy bet for saves in the short term. The hard-throwing Nick Burdi could also be an option for those searching for saves in deeper formats. Crick, 27, had a 4.96 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 49 relief innings for Pittsburgh last season, but he has just two career saves in 141 2/3 innings over three big league seasons.
