Pirates Place Jared Jones On 15-Day Injured List
5 months agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates placed rookie right-hander Jared Jones (lat) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with a right-lat strain and recalled outfielder Joshua Palacios from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Jones was removed from his start a bit early on Wednesday against the St. Louis Cardinals as a precaution. The 22-year-old said he wasn't worried about the injury after the game, but this gives the Pirates an opportunity to rest the young hurler heading into the mid-July All-Star break. For at least the next couple of weeks, Luis L. Ortiz should slide into the starting rotation in place of Jones. In his first year in the big leagues with the Bucs, Jones has been relevant in all fantasy formats, going 5-6 with a 3.56 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 26.4% strikeout rate and .220 average against in 91 innings over 16 starts.
