Phillies Looking For Center-Field Upgrade
5 months agoThe Philadelphia Phillies have made center field a priority with the July 30 trade deadline quickly approaching, and The Athletic's Jim Bowden writes that it would be surprising if they don't land a center fielder by the deadline. They have been linked to Luis Robert Jr. of the Chicago White Sox, Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the Miami Marlins, Cody Bellinger (finger) of the Chicago Cubs, Jake McCarthy of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Jacob Young of the Washington Nationals, among others. Any of those options would be a big upgrade, at least offensively, over current center fielder Johan Rojas, who has hit .234 (50-for-214) with two homers and 21 RBI while adding 17 stolen bases in his second year in the big leagues. In addition to looking for a center fielder, the Phillies are canvassing for additional bullpen help.
