Phillies Acquire Corey Oswalt From Giants
3 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies acquired right-handed pitcher Corey Oswalt from the San Francisco Giants over the weekend, in exchange for cash considerations. Oswalt hadn't pitched in a major league game for the Giants this year, and he threw only 10 1/3 innings for the New York Mets last year, allowing four earned runs while walking two and striking out 10 in three appearances (one start). The 28-year-old has a 5.89 career ERA, a 1.41 WHIP and a 17.2% strikeout rate in 94 2/3 innings pitched in four major league seasons, all with the Mets. At Triple-A Sacramento this year, Oswalt had a rough 7.11 ERA in just 12 2/3 innings. He'll represent relief depth for the Phillies.
